Today’s backyard critter is the Yellow Sand Wasp (Bembix palmata of the family Crabronidae).

A Chalcidoid Wasp, genus Schizaspidia spotted at Kranji Marshes, Singapore, on 3 Jan 2022. It was only about 2-3mm in size, and I had to stay really still as I took these hand-held shots. But I think it was worth it. :-)

Normally this would be way too sappy for me to like it, I must be in a good mood today :)

Given no one else saw this occur and is not seen anywhere in other video, it almost certainly didn’t happen.

There’s also the problem of the footage itself. Based on the resolution of the video, it seems it was ripped straight from the Fox News broadcast so the resolution might be non-native at the very least. Also the company that supposedly made it closed 17 days after the Fox News broadcast and denied having it to the Defense 🤷‍♂️.

@freemo @icedquinn @zpartacoos

The video he is referencing is the newly added drone video.

There’s a myriad of issues with it, but first and for most is that it’s basically impossible to tell (even with the interpolation they used to “enhance” it). Assuming he did point the gun, he would have done it left handed (he’s a right handed shooter with a right handed AR) with only one hand (the support hand in the still frame is clearly the mirror of the truck).

@freemo more interested in the Republicans that accept moderate gun control when it clearly says “shall not be infringed” 🙈

What is the current plan to prevent malicious actors abusing the voting feature?

Cool project though!

Congratulations to @PINE64 for launching the #pinephonepro - just like the original #pinephone, this will surely be an amazing catalyst for the whole alternative Linux smartphone OS community! 🚀

So if you have been under a rock today, here's the original announcement: pine64.org/2021/10/15/october-

@martijnbraam made this killer video about it: spacepub.space/videos/watch/35

...and of course prepared a merge request to put it into postmarketOS edge: gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmapor

@freemo @swiley In fairness, smallpox is less infectious than Delta appears to be, but your stockpile then deploy approach works too.

I’ve just lost all faith that governments and society at large can handle such a task. 🤷‍♂️

@freemo @swiley I think a better strategy would be to 1) develop an updated version (mRNA vaccines should be fairly good in this regard) then 2) vaccinate at risk people and prioritize post-infection treatments for non-at risk people banking on natural immunity to eventually get us where we need to be.

@freemo @swiley I agree that creating a new vaccine and rolling it out faster would work, but I’m skeptical that’s possible world wide as even today less than half have received one dose.

Regardless, I would think it’s prudent to limit mass vaccinations using the current version as it places a greater evolutionary pressure for COVID to defeat it. That’s not a problem for young, healthy people, but could be disastrous for old or immune compromised people.
